Therapist and supervisor experiences of the application of standard Multisystemic therapy to young people with suspected or diagnosed level 1 autistic Spectrum disorder

Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intervention offered to young people presenting with antisocial and aggressive behaviour currently being adapted for use the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) population. This qualitative study aimed provide first consideration of experiences MST therapists supervisors delivering standard suspected or diagnosed Level 1 ASD. Semi-structured interviews were carried out 11 experience working client group. Thematic analysis identified three major themes: (1) nuanced delivery ASD, (2) need knowledge resources, (3) positive intervention. Findings suggested increased focus on understanding individual needs a person in assessment intervention, importance structure consistency, psychoeducation all systems around order meet developmental
